Five to explore: Arcachon Bay, France

Dreaming of the long weekends ahead and wondering what to do? French Live2Leave app super-user Lea showcases the relaxing shores of Arcachon Bay.

For a much needed healthy dose of sunshine, French travel expert Lea tells us about a secret paradise somewhere on the Atlantic Coast. She reveals how she spends her time in this beautiful area, saving us from a miserable overpriced tourist trap.

1: Get your hit of vitamin sea

Rent a boat for the day and drive out to one of the sand islands that face the Dune du Pyla, right in the middle of the Bassin d’Arcachon. Enjoy the sun and the view. Be careful about the rides though and ask for help if you are navigating the area for the first time!

2: The best view in the house

La Co(o)rniche is simply the best spot in the entire Bassin d’Arcachon to admire the sunset on the Dune du Pyla. Stunning & unique location. Either go for lunch, for a drink only or diner but make sure you book well in advance!

3: Uncover new ground

Climb La Dune du Pyla at sunset to witness the entire Bassin D’Arcachon illuminate with shades or orange purple and pink…. simply breathtaking.

4: Did someone say sundowners?

Les Pins Du Moulleau is a super cute and chill bar restaurant in Le Moulleau, 10 minutes away from La Dune du Pyla and 15 minutes from Arcachon.

5: Dance the night away

Do not miss “the Balap”, also known as the Bal a Papa when traveling to the area. Sort of Bar/club that only plays retro music from the 80s/90s. The ambience is great and the crowds are very relaxed. Nobody takes himself seriously here. Especially not the owner, Tony, quite the character!
